Cisco launches HealthPresence 2.5 and Connected Health Services

Cisco Systems Inc. today announced three new connected health offerings, including HealthPresence 2.5, which the firm said are “designed to meet an increasing need in the healthcare industry for software and services that helps enable efficient, convenient, high-quality patient care, and more collaboration across the healthcare continuum.”

“Healthcare providers are well poised to take advantage of a connected transformation as people, data, and processes are connecting and talking like never before.

Features of Health Presence 2.5 include:

*Standards-based connectivity to third party medical devices, which enables a fast connection of driverless USB, S-Video and composite based medical devices.

* Standards-based videoconferencing capabilities. Cisco endpoints such as the VX Clinical Assistant, SX20, MX200 and C60, as well as select partner third party endpoints can now be configured to work with Cisco HealthPresence 2.5.

* Choice of own hardware . Health organizations now have the option to choose the best hardware for specific needs, including the video endpoint, local desktop computer used in the remote health clinic and data centre server platforms.

Also announced today was “Cisco Services for Connected Health” and “Cisco Architectures for Connected Health.”
