Primus Business Services, a subsidiary of PTGi (Primus Telecommunications Group, Inc.), this week launched the PrimusCloud Server, a platform it says will give clients more control over server performance.

The platform offers enhanced levels of end-client management capabilities and features two levels of storage performance -- standard cloud and premium cloud. According to Primus, the main difference between these cloud performance levels stems from the underlying storage infrastructure that supports the cloud platform. By creating a single cloud product that spans the different grades of SAN (Storage Area Network) capabilities, clients will have more control of their entire infrastructure, including all of their networking and server components, the company said in a release

"Many businesses find that losing control of their infrastructure when hosting in the cloud is frustrating," said AJ Byers, executive vice president of Primus Business Services. "The needs of businesses are more diverse than ever with a greater demand for superior performance and reliability but increasingly it's about more control."

According to Primus, a key challenge in the cloud has been controlling IOPS (input/output operations per second) performance of the underlying cloud disk infrastructure.

By accessing a Primus dashboard, cloud service users will have direct links to manage their infrastructure including all of their networking and server components.
