Members of the TIA's Fiber Optics LAN Section (FOLS) will present a pre-conference seminar, Fiber 101, on Monday, Jan. 20 from 9 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Attendees will earn three BICSI Continuing Education Credits.

“Commercial networks, from the data centres out to the desktop utilize both legacy and newer data transport technologies,” FOLS said in a release. “In order for these technologies to operate efficiently and be able to continue to evolve, they must have the proper infrastructure in place.”

Topics covered in the seminar will include optical fiber technology trends, optical fiber comparisons and standards updates, including commercial cabling and developing cabling standards.

Also included are optical connector technologies, effective cleaning processes, optical testing procedures and polarity maintenance for current and future applications.
